Did you hear?!

Aunt Miranda is coming to visit Friday through Tuesday!

Boy, am I excited! (This also means that mommy will leave me with G-Dad. I have missed my alone time with G-Dad. To the Italian Fest we will go!)

Got to go... Mommy is trying to get me to take another nap. When will she learn- I just don't like sleeping during the day!

Aunt Kaki: Day Two

On Sunday, mommy, Gram, Aunt Kaki and I all went to Mango Street Baby, a cool children's store in Germantown. It was really neat! The store had umbrellas as lights and my favorite rock and roll baby music on the cd player. Mango Street even sold a binkie that said "mommy's boy," how hysterical!

Gram bought me a cool new chew toy (er, teething toy) and a whale story book. Mom picked out some baby sunscreen (ew, icky) and showed me ta stroller, the Mother of All Strollers, that we will own when I get big. It was so cool. I cannot wait to get to 6 months- or 20 pounds- whichever comes first! Thank you in advance, mommy!

That night for dinner, G-Dad made delicious seafood and mommy went to her bookclub meeting- but I did not even know because I was in bed! It sure is good for mom to get of the house, though. I really wear her out sometimes- ya'll know I really do not nap, right?

Visitors!

Sorry I have been so out of touch. Things have been pretty busy around here!

My Aunt Kaki came to visit us this weekend! She arrived on Saturday afternoon is staying until Tuesday morning! It has been wonderful- but boy am I pooped. After a long day of playing and shopping, Mom took me to a holiday bbq this afternoon with Aunt Julie and we returned around 7:15. Wew.

I may not make it through tonight's game... but Mom will fill me in later (or at 3 am when I eat). Late night baseball talk- or should I say early morning?

I cannot tell you guys how great it is to feel good (those vaccines made me icky). Pictures from this weekend are coming soon! Happy Memorial Day!

I'm a big boy

Today, mommy and Aiden went to the doctor for the FOUR month check-up and vaccines (well, a few of them, as mommy wants to spread out the vaccine schedule).

Baby Boy weights 14 pounds, 14 ounces and is growing well above average!

Unfortunately, Aiden is not up to writing at the moment, as the shots have made him a wee fussy and sleepy. We did have a big day yesterday, with the morning and afternoon spent at Maki's house. We had brunch with Aunt Julie and Maki, and Aiden got to meet Uncle Robert. Several hours later, mommy went out with the Girls to hear music at the Brooks. Wew! We are both pooped, but very happy. It has been a GOOD past three days. Hurrah for family and friends!

Thank you Aunt Julie, Maki, Gram, Heidi, Bonnie, Robert and Giant Bear for spicing up our lives and giving mommy some adult attention! Grown-up time is highly underrated.

Hmmm... mommy needs a snack. We get tired and hungry from time to time, too!

Love,
MM and A

Babysitter

Today, Mommy and Gram went shopping (and decided to grab lunch along the way). It was the first time I have been left alone without Mommy, Gram or G-Dad. Boy, was it an exciting afternoon!

Mommy told me that Aunt Julie was coming to babysit, so I had to try several different outfits (I wanted to look my best, you see). We finally settled on my "I am so Cute" onesie and shorts. Apropos, don't you think?

Aunt Julie and I played all over the house! She gave me a bottle (um, I was a wee fussy) and then I took a good nap. Everything was going smoothly until I got hungry again and wanted nothing to do with the bottle. I blame my teeth, and mommy not being there, of course.

I can ride in my stroller without my infant car seat because I am a big boy. Okay, I admit it is a bit more bumpy, but I kinda like it- and there is less sun in my face! I loved being in the stroller when mommy, Gram and I went with Tiffany to the Farmer's Market. Even us babies have to get out from time to time- not fair for the mommies to have all the fun. Overall, this was my best day in a week. Thank you, Aunt Julie, and thank you Teeth, for not hurting me so much!

Catch ya later,
Aiden

Did you hear the news??!!

Last night, Jon Lester threw a no hitter at Fenway Park! It was a historical moment (whatever that means) and mommy nearly cried. I feel bad since that is mostly my fault- yesterday was rough, and the game was a nice change for us both!

Come to think of it, last night's game against the Kansas City Royals was the very first time I have seen a pitcher pitch all nine innings. Then again, my baseball experience is fairly limited, but I think I do a pretty good job at four months. (I sneak peaks at the big screen while mommy walks me- ssssh! don't tell her).

We are currently watching Boston play Kansas again, drinking a beer and waiting on our Mexican dinner to come out of the oven. GO RED SOX!

Home

It sure is nice to have G-Dad home again. After four days away, I really missed him and our early evening walks around the neighborhood. Mom and Gram are just not as interesting after about ten hours...

I missed you, G-Dad! Don't leave for so long ever again!

Galloping Horse

I love my new galloping horsey from Aunt Kristin and Uncle Craig. This toy is FUN! Mommy says when my feet touch the floor more I can do some bouncing- cool. I love the sounds. We sing many renditions of "She'll be Comin' Round the Mountain."

Stay tuned for more pics of the horse and my new Johnny Jump Up.

Did I tell ya'll that G-Dad came home today? I missed him!

What?!

Boston lost again?

I was a good boy!

Mother's Day

First I was asleep in the car... then for half of brunch.

Here we are after brunch in the Boscos parking lot. Uncle Spanky is snapping the pics.

Do I look fat in this picture?

Call your Mama

Pick up the phone, call your mom and tell her, "Happy Mother's Day!"

Give her a flower and kiss. She went through a lot to bring you into this world (or so I hear)!

Happy Pre-Mother's Day

Mother's Day came early this year for Mommy- she and Aiden celebrated their first ever Pre-Mother's Day with a Boston Red Sox game on MLB Extra Innings. Nothing like out of market games at the touch of a button. I mean, what else are you going to do on a Saturday night? Next year we may ask for a nifty stroller or new pair of shoes but this year- baseball.

For his loving grandmothers, Aiden picked out a photo album for Maki and two cotton shopping bags for Gram. He, like his mom, is concerned about saving the earth. But we wonder- what will Uncle Spanky and G-Dad do? I guess we will find out tomorrow at brunch! It will be the Bernal Family's first breakfast at Boscos together. We hope it is patio weather!

Polo

My uncle Spanky gave me two Ralph Lauren Polo onesies in celebration of my birth. It was finally warm enough last week to wear one. I be stylin' like my uncle. Wait 'til you see me in the baby blue. I'm too sexy for my Polo.

Duck

Aiden has discovered the wonderful world of crib time. He loves his Winnie the Pooh mobile and Pooh character stuffed animals, but most of all, he loves his Duck. I think the Duck may be his future 'comfort object.' I had a set of three stuffed animals we nicknamed 'The Crew,' and many babies have a blankie or binkie, but Aiden has chosen his Duck.

A Crush

Can I just say that I love my aunt Julie? (I have a thing for young women in their mid to late twenties...) She was here when I went to bed, but I could not find her when I woke up. Oh, well. I feel bad that I got poop on her last night- hope that did not scare her away.

New toys to play with- gotta go! Love, AIDEN

Baby's Night Out

This past Thursday evening, Aunt Julie, Aiden and Mommy all went to Cooper Young's Thursday Night Out. From 5-9 pm on the first Thursday of each month, the shops and restaurants of Midtown's Cooper Young open their doors to neighbors and visitors all around the city. Luckily, there are five or so places to sit outside, so after a nice long stroll, we all settled down on the tiny patio of Sweets. Aiden was a peach- he was content to look at the sky and trees, cooing and glancing over at us, occasionally, for reassurance. There was even another baby Aiden in company- he was 6 months old and cute to boot- and his parents were from Boston (they overheard me telling Julie about my Red Sox fan-dom).

Mommy is SO pleased that Aiden took the outing as well as he did- for over three hours he was awake, calm and happy to be out and about. Once we moved inside Sweets to eat (adults and baby), he busied himself looking at the lights, ceiling and colorful display of martini glasses. Surprisingly, Aiden even managed to catch a brief snooze during a live guitar act towards the front of the restaurant. Wow. All in all, it was so good for Mommy and Aunt Julie to get out and we enjoyed watching old friends (and strangers) ooh and aah over Baby Aiden. I must say, he did look quite adorable in his blue Winnie the Pooh sun hat.

Next month, we will visit our beloved Cooper Young again, but this time, an early reservation for the patio of Tsunami is in order. We can eat calamari and sip white wine while Aiden watches Midtown stroll by...

Scooting and Tooting

It seems as though Aiden does not want to stay put these days. Yes ladies and gents, he is gearing up to crawl, walk, run and talk (all at once). It all started with lively antics in the crib during tummy time when he pulled his tummy forward using his little arms. Aiden's head and chest were entirely off the mattress and his knees where pushing hard- go baby!

The following day, I was reading the paper and turned around to find his body (minus the head) on the floor of the kitchen in front of his vibrating chair! He grinned up at me, happy with his accomplishment. How did he do that so quietly, I wondered. After sitting him back up in the chair, I went about making coffee as he noisily began scooting down the chair, out of it, onto the floor. I stopped again, righted him, and went about my morning routine, keeping a wary eye on my little magician. Each thwarted attempt made Aiden more fussy, and finally I strapped him in, using the bizarre crotch strap that accompanies our Fisher Price chair (and now I know why). What we called the Poop Chair will now be referred to as the Scoot Chair.
